Eden School
Eden School in Macclesfield, Cheshire, is a bespoke school offering tailored curriculums for up to 8 pupils with ASD/PDA/SEMH/SPD and Anxiety.
Eden School provides bespoke, individualised education for young people aged 6-16 with negative views of school.
Based in Macclesfield, we support children who may have been out of education for significant amounts of time. The children attending Eden School have EHC Plans and present with needs such as autism, high levels of anxiety and sensory processing disorders.
The school is registered to support young people with learning difficulties (LD), mild learning difficulties (MLD), and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
Our primary goal is to help children be the best they can be. To do this we create personalised education and behavioural plans and develop bespoke curriculums, based on a young person’s EHC Plan.

We are seeing pupils who have previously struggled in education start to thrive, with a curriculum that is based around their individual needs.
Pupils are involved in shaping their own curriculum which improves pupil engagement with their learning. The curriculum is delivered in a cross curricular way with digital technology playing an important part. iPads are used regularly and film-making technologies such as 'green screen' and 'stop motion animation' are used to enhance the teaching of English.
Supporting the wellbeing of each pupil is a core part of what we do, and therapeutic approaches are integral to the culture at Eden School. A key aim for us is enabling pupils to develop their emotional literacy and social skills alongside their academic skills. This enables pupils to begin to self-regulate their behaviours and take responsibility for their own learning.
Supporting pupils to take an active part in the wider community and to develop their life skills are important elements of our teaching. Learning regularly takes place outside the classroom and this serves to enhance the curriculum and support pupils to develop their social skills and self-esteem.

Parents and carers who spoke with the inspector felt that the school had made an immeasurable difference to their children. Parents commented that the work of the school had been ‘life changing’ for their children and for them.
The comment, ‘Eden has unlocked my child’s potential and given my child back their life,’ was a typical sentiment from parents.
The behaviour of pupils is outstanding. Considering the difficulties that pupils have in managing their behaviour, pupils conduct themselves extremely well around school. The school is typically a calm, orderly place, where pupils feel protected and able to learn.
Eden School is a relatively new and exciting development for Family Care. As we do at Access School, we aim to maximise the learning potential of all children that we have the pleasure of teaching.
Our staff are highly experienced in working with children with special educational needs which impacts greatly on children’s learning in Eden’s quiet and unique setting.
As Head Teacher, and in conjunction with the Lead Teacher for Eden School, I will develop the provision for Eden School through a creative, nurturing and therapeutic curriculum tailored to each individual student’s academic, social and emotional need. Pupils are taught by qualified and highly skilled staff and they have routine access to two senior therapists who will advise on our therapeutic provision.
